Murals are a recent and powerful public art form that has become in vogue in many of our urban centers in the last decade. Typically they reflect the history, aspirations, and frustrations of the many ethnic groups that are being assimilated in our new multicultural society. The Klingle Road murals were painted in 1989 by latin american youths in Washington DC on the sides of a highway retaining wall before murals became popularized, but their vibrancy and passion are still alive today for those who take the time to stop and look at them.
