RETURN to BRILLIANT ILLUMINATIONS: PAINTING WITH LIGHT gallery

The experience of viewing stained glass, like music, can stimulate the imagination, lift the heart, and enthrall. Light and color embodied in stained glass windows is a principal means of how human beings perceive their reality, and is associated with the origins of spiritual life and the beginnings of understanding.

The National Cathedral has more than two hundred stained glass windows created by more than twenty artists over more than 80 years.
